MICROSIMULATION SERVICE SYSTEM

The point of the simulation methodology is to rewrite data of a well-known statistical multitude in the function of time by the help of computer. It means that the computer system created for this aim transforms a statistical data file in micro level by different hypothesis. Microsimulation can be confined to a single thing (e. g. dispersion of income, tax rate, etc.) or extend to simulation of all changes evolved for more years, which happen in most of the measured attributes of individuals. This is important because this way we obtain such estimated data which otherwise can only be gained after further data collection.

In 2001 the Microsimulation Research Team was established jointly by our company and Department of Information and Knowledge Management at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The aim was to develop and maintain a system which supports economists to analyse data available in the administration. A multilingual end-user application, the general purposive Microsimulation Service System was developed. It is a SAS-based microsimulation modelling and decision support system provided with data warehouse functions.

After the abolishment of Department of Information and Knowledge Management in 2007, Foundation for Information Society, our new research partner was established. Calculus had opportunity to carry out common projects at commercial banks with focus on data quality management, data cleansing, data mining, modelling and analysis.

We continued to develop the Microsimulation Service System, and the new version is base on SAS and Java as well. Due to our SAS server we can offer data analysis and microsimulation as a service (SaaS).
